Over the last 4 decades, K Raheja Corp, with businesses diversified across commercial, residential, hospitality, malls, and retail, is cognizant of the intrinsic part we play in the advancement of the Indian economy. Our ESG initiatives and approaches are led by each of our businesses and we continue to evolve, ensuring we are agile enough to respond to the evolving requirements of the environmental, social, and governance elements.
Environmental
Environmental considerations have become a fundamental area of focus. With global warming, issues like water scarcity, climate risk, resource depletion, carbon emissions and extreme temperatures threatening to dampen economic growth; the importance of E of ESG couldn’t be more urgent. We focus on our utilisation of natural resources, the impact of our operations on the environment – both direct and across our supply chain, efforts to reduce carbon emissions and more. At K Raheja Corp we endeavour to minimise any negative impact of our operations on the environment and evolve newer ways to efficiently utilise resources.
The growing awareness and demand for self-sustaining, efficient developments that cost less to operate and are good on the environment augurs well for all. Our ‘Green Vision is’ to ensure each of our assets is LEED & IGBC Green Certified.

Carbon Neutral Operations
Our aim is to decarbonise business activities to transition towards a low-carbon economy. In this effort, our focus is directed towards reducing GHG emissions, adopting renewable sources of energy, and improving energy efficiency, among other initiatives.
Futuristic Buildings
We develop smart and futuristic buildings are instrumental in implementing digital interventions, reducing power consumption, improving water savings, and enhancing resource efficiency to create more sustainable spaces. We endeavour to effectively manage water and accomplish accreditations that make us a reliable partner.
Waste Management
We have composting plants to reduce waste, in an environmentally sound fashion. At each asset, we ensure both dry and wet waste composting through biological decomposition of organic waste under controlled aerobic conditions.
We recycle our waste and convert it into valuable organic fertiliser, which is further utilised in landscaping.
Water Management
Wastewater generated is treated at the sewage treatment plant and reused efficiently for secondary consumption purposes like gardening, landscaping and flushing, leading to reduced demand for municipal potable water. To reduce water waste, low flow fixtures, appropriate use of drip and high efficient sprinkler irrigation are ensured. Similarly, rainwater harvesting is another key intervention across our assets, initiated through either tank or recharge pits at the sites. Technological innovations have helped in reducing operating costs with lesser water bills for the end users.
Energy Conservation
We believe that assets that are energy efficient are also more valuable. Lighting uses around 25 to 30% of the energy, and power usage in most common areas is converted to green power, through renewable power or green energy sourcing. Renewable power is initiated through Solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to reduce carbon footprint along with sourcing of green energy.
Glazing is another technique used wherein a Low ‘e’ double glazed glass is used to reduce the heat ingress into the building, which make the indoor area comfortable, and dramatically reduces energy costs.
Integrated Building Management system (IBMS)*
Our assets have the IBMS tool as a centralized control of a building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting and other systems through a building management system. This has led to improved security, occupant comfort, efficient operation of building systems, and reduction in energy consumption and operating costs and improved life cycle of utilities.
Green Envelop
Across assets, we consciously handpick trees that are drought resistant, need very little water and are low on maintenance.The flora and thick foliage contributes towards cleaner air to breathe .We understand that simply undertaking initiatives does not help.
We understand that without the support of our partners, customers and clients, we cannot make our environmental commitments a success. To ensure they are sensitized, we host:
- Training programs for the green building core team i.e. Architects, Engineers & especially Sales teams to enable them to communicate appropriate and relevant information along with benefits to the property aspirants.
- Guidelines given to tenants mentioning the Green features of the project, along with Do’s and Don’ts.
- On location Green Education by putting up signages explaining the various environmental measures undertaken.
- Workshops to assist in better understanding of their responsibilities in maintaining a sustainable ecosystem.
