The company has decided to have their projects as LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ] certified GREEN BUILDINGS. This concept of "Green Buildings"has originated in the United States nearly a decade and a half ago It essentially lays emphasis on usage of environmentally friendly building materials, effective waste management and efficient energy systems that can substantially reduce or eliminate negative environmental impacts and improve existing unsustainable design, construction and operational practices. For Eg usage of Double Glazing for external facades with the specified U value of Glass, Utilising alternative sources of energy(Solar Power), HFC refrigerants for Airconditioning and many more. This in turn would bring down the annual energy consumption of any building by 15-20%.
In what is considerd as a landmark agreement, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to facilitate certification of LEED rated GREEN Buildings for 10 select projects having multiple buildings spanning all across India in cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai & Goa. The company would be spending an additional 8-10% of the total capital expenditure incurred in building construction for the same.
